I live on a small island (pop. 400) off the West Coast of BC, Canada. (Yes, it was a long drive to HONK!) We have a small core group of horn players, but it's hard getting people to commit the time. Also, hardly anybody around here has ever seen a sousaphone, let alone heard a HONK type band. I'm doing y best to educate them LOL.

Jacob, what part of the country do you live in?
The street band I play with is rather large and we have people moving away all the time. It's possible I know some available musicians in your area.
In fact, at HONK I ran into a trombone player that used to play with us but just moved to Boston and isn't playing with anyone.

What can I say? I LOVE "skeleton arrangements."

If you need the bassline, it is 4 notes - concert G to D, then Ab to Eb. The tenor part is just the off-beats on a G major and then Ab major. The long tones preceding the head are all just made up every time, the drum break is by cue when the conductor wants.

Thanks. I've printed quite a few pieces off BLO's website, now I'm trying to gather together some people to play them with me!!

Roma-Rama is the name of this song. I recorded it 3 times at HONK. The other 2 were at jam sessions held in the evenings -- in one, Cakalak Thunder (20 +/- drummers) joined in. That was REALLY powerful.

btw, if you are a musician, BLO posts their arrangements on their webpage, so you can download it -- though it's just a skeleton arrangement.

Anyone know the name of that piece? It's really beautiful.
